It’s catchy and fun, although I may bendera88 need therapy to remove the GPU Jungle song from endlessly repeating in my head. The DualSense’s haptic feedback distributes the vibrations in extremely precise ways to mimic the sensations being experienced in the gameplay. This can be as simple as the controller rippling as you walk through blades of grass or softly buzzing as each raindrop falls on your umbrella. It’s yet to be seen how much developers will lean into this new technology, but Astro’s Playroom brings the controller to life and stimulated my sense of touch like no game has before. Astro’s Playroom is more of a game than it has any right to be given its instant accessibility to all PS5 owners, but that doesn’t mean it’s a very long one. It took me around four hours to complete all the worlds, attempt every speedrunning level a couple of times, and acquire around 90% of the collectibles.
You’ll need to have collected the PlayStation Artefact from Bumper Broadway in Memory Meadow to get this Trophy. Just double jump over the open button to flip the lid and earn this Trophy. Once you’ve got at least ten Astro Bots following you, hold down the Square button to spin attack into them and be sure to knock at least 10 over to get the Trophy. As with all PlayStation games, you just need to collect all the other Trophies for the Platinum. If you’re playing new game Astro Bot, we have a full list of All Puzzle Pieces Locations in our Astro Bot PS5 guide. Even after finishing the game, you’ll still be missing 10 Artifacts and 28 Puzzle Pieces.
It also doesn’t help that Playroom uses the only gadget both games have in common better than its sequel. Playroom holds up surprisingly well in the graphics cair78 department, and you’ll only notice the graphical difference between the two entries if you directly compare them. In the end, both games look gorgeous, and that’s where it counts. How much does Astro Bot improve on its foundations from the Playroom? Both titles are solid 3D platformers and must-haves for a PS5 owner – granted, one of them comes for free, anyway.
For starters, the load times are super-fast thanks to the SSD so getting into and out of levels never has you waiting. Even better is that if you find that you missed some collectibles and want to go back to get them then pulling up the Activities menu will give you options to instantly jump to where you need to go. The game runs at a full 4K resolution and a smooth 60fps as well and it makes great use of its color palette and lighting. The soundtrack is catchy and playful just as you would expect from a platformer and the 3D audio really helps add to the immersion.
It’s also not a difficult game, which feels appropriate for the younger demographic it’s aimed at but doesn’t help with increasing the already short playtime. Critically acclaimed PlayStation 5 launch title Astro’s Playroom has received a surprise update with new content and trophies for players to unlock. The levels are packed to the brim with PlayStation Easter eggs and references; bots dressed up as iconic PlayStation characters in iconic scenery. There’s the red-tattooed Kratos bot with a smaller Atreus bot in a boat in the Cooling Springs beach area. You can also find iconic characters like Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter, as well as more niche PlayStation games like Vib-Ribbon.
When this partnership fell through, Kutaragi persevered and developed it into a standalone console, resulting in the original PlayStation. 1994 Throwback’s primary reference is Demo 1, a pack-in demo disc packed in with the PlayStation that was updated over the course of the PlayStation’s life. It was first available in 1994 at trade shows and eventually packed in with the system itself. It would then be updated six times over the years with new games and revised menus; the logo is from the 1996 version. In the final shaded section of the level with the long wooden bridge, look down on the left-hand wall to see a Bot on a bike escaping a swarm of Bots.
Carefully skate across these too to access the snowy platform beyond. There are two small wire bunches to pull here, so do that and you’ll reveal a third, larger one (and some bonus bots). Under this last wire set is your second artefact – a PS3 game disc. In the Frigid Floes level, when you go outside, stand on one of the icy platforms and hold down the Square button to do a spin attack. Then immediately jump in the air three times to unlock this Trophy.
Xbox Game Pass Plans Changed; Game Pass Ultimate Monthly Price Increased By 50%
Both the game and the Trophy involve rolling a ball around so that it gets bigger and bigger. The “Cool Hoarder” Trophy, awarded for getting all the Puzzle Pieces in Cooling Springs, is named after 1996 PS1 game Cool Boarders, developed by UEP Systems. Cool Boarders was one of the most popular PS1 games, spawning four sequels.
Destroy it and the two Stampers, then face right to another mud pit. Once you smash the Canister the Spikys were guarding, turn around to face the Checkpoint you reached earlier and you’ll spot two Canisters next to the steps back up. As shared at ResetEra, it’s thought the new free content has arrived to usher in the recently announced platformer Astro Bot, which is scheduled to release on 6th September, 2024.

Near the end of this level you’ll work your way across handholds on sections of a rotating cylinder. From here jump up the first two swing bars, but instead of flinging yourself onto the third, launch yourself to the right and allow yourself to fall down the gap in the rock there. Swing on this, then work your way up the handholds over the other side. You’ll have to be quick as there are some moving elements here, but when you reach the second swing bar you’ll unlock the first artefact in this section – the PS VR headset. At the time of typing Astro’s Playroom doesn’t actually have any DLC, however it does have 3 Trophies that you can unlock separately to the main campaign. This is relatively straight-forward to unlock, and practically unmissable.

But once activated, the triggers might stop halfway into a pull, requiring extra effort to “push past” the resistance to get a full trigger pull. Every new console needs a great technical showpiece, and Sony hit it out of the park by including the infectiously adorable Astro’s Playroom with the PS5. We rank every video game developed by Sucker Punch Productions (including the new Ghost of Yotei) from worst to best by Metascore. SSD Speedway is the second zone in the game, whose Artefacts cover the PlayStation 2 from 2001 to 2006. This zone’s suit is the Rocket Suit, which you control with the Adaptive Triggers and the SIXAXIS tilt controls. Explore a range of stunning titles available now or coming soon to PS5.
